Management Training
We provide managers with the training they need to
reach the highest professional levels to ensure that
our managers have the skills needed to handle the
most demanding circumstances.
Technical Training
We provide specialist mechanical and electrical and
health and safety training.
Professional Training
We provide job-specific training wherever it is required,
and we will help identify and finance appropriate courses.
Health and Safety/ Environmental
Training
Through the provision of a continuous health and
safety training programme, via our integrated
Quality, Health and Safety and Environment
(QHSE) management systems, we have one of the
best safety records in the industry. We provide
information, instruction, training and supervision to
our staff and encourage a responsible attitude. Our
goal is to promote a positive health and safety
culture, so we can prevent accidents and avoid
hazards. To further showcase our commitment we
have become members in Build Safe UAE which is
a not-for-profit organization consisting of major
international and local companies in the
construction industry that share a common cause:
worker welfare and safety. The organization aims to
promote an agreed minimum of health and safety
standards for the benefit of all workers in the
construction industry in Dubai and the UAE as a
whole. The organization also seeks to
communicate best practice and the importance of
construction safety to all project stakeholders.
Succession happens through a rigorous training and
promotions programme that may span years. An
example of this is one of our newly appointed
Operations Director based in Oman who started with
us 5 years ago as site engineer and was promoted to
Operations Manager. There are several similar
examples where our staff are trained in Dubai and
groomed for international posts in our offices around
the world. This allows fast mobilization and
operations turnaround in our new regional offices, in
addition to uniformity of our policies and procedures
and values which eventually translate into direct
benefit to clients and ultimately to projects.
To keep up with the high demands of hiring as we
expand geographically, a contract has been signed
with Bond International Software - a worldwide
provider of software solutions in the field of Human
Capital Management ­ to deploy Bond Talent, a
fully-hosted online recruitment and talent
management software solution. The solution
provides an online web portal-based recruitment
application and applicant tracking system throughout
DSI regional operations. This gives the recruitment
team more time to concentrate on development
rather than administrative tasks.
Information Technology
The Information Technology (IT) we use is best
described as the latest in engineering software,
acquired with the main purpose of streamlining
operations. Much time and effort is spent yearly on
updating our IT systems to be at the forefront of cutting
edge technology in terms of knowledge management,
knowledge transfer, and maximizing the efficiency of
internal and external communication. IT strategies are
set at the board level and applied at each division,
operation and unit.
During the past year, our corporate IT operations have
expanded to cover all the geographical areas where
we exist. With the rapid growth of our company, it was
necessary for the IT operations to create and adopt
different technologies to keep up with our rapid
growth. Our IT is becoming the corporate backbone
and serves as a hub where all communications,
system applications and technologies are centralized
and initiated.
In order to achieve maximum support from
headquarters to all branches and subsidiaries, the need
to standardize the different technologies has become a
major necessity. The major components of the IT
operations environment revolves around maintaining
the servers that are built using the latest technologies
which host major applications and services such as the
ERP and the mail systems. Through the implementation
of servers check applications and software as well as
smart `UPS', the corporate IT has a true visibility of what
is occurring at any given time. It monitors the
availability and performance of any IP enabled device
such as routers, switches, firewalls, servers and even
alerts on data center high temperatures.
Our corporate IT constantly designs and implements
new tools and seeks technologies that help top
management and end users to be instantly updated with
easy to use and user-friendly developed applications.
Standard policies and procedures have been
developed, adopted and implemented in all branches
and subsidiaries of the corporation. This not only saves
time and money, but keeps us at the forefront of
international markets.
2010 Snapshots
In 2010, our expansion efforts continue with the
establishment of two new subsidiaries: "Drake & Scull
Water and Power L.L.C" (DSWP), which was
established to manage and control all of our new and
existing Water & Power activities across the MENA
region, and "Drake & Scull Construction L.L.C"
(DSC), which was established to manage and control
all our regional civil construction activities outside
Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
