History

In 1966 Drake & Scull International was established in the UAE, and has grown rapidly to become a market leader providing quality engineering services that meet the most stringent customers’ demands related to both time and cost constraints. Drake & Scull International PJSC has become one of the region’s most experienced specialist mechanical electrical and plumbing contracting companies.

 
Key Milestones
1966 Drake & Scull International is established in Abu Dhabi
1977 Drake & Scull International is incorporated in Dubai
1987 Completed MEP works on the prestigious Emirates Golf Club, the first PGA-approved golf course in the Middle East.
1995 Completed MEP works on Baynunah Hilton Tower in Abu Dhabi, an iconic structure, owned by a member of the UAE royal family.
1998 Completed MEP works on Jumeirah Beach Hotel, one of the most iconic hotels in the Middle East.
2001 Completed MEP works on numerous buildings at Dubai Internet City, the Middle East’s largest technology hub.
2003 Completed MEP works on numerous buildings at Dubai Internet City, the Middle East’s largest technology hub.
2006 Drake & Scull International established Infrastructure Water & Power (IWP) division that offer among other services, District Cooling Technology which is an energy efficient solution that on the long term reduces the overall demand on the electrical grid and controls toxic emissions.
2006 Completed work on the district cooling scheme at Jumeirah Beach Residence, the single largest district cooling plant in the region at its time.
2007 Drake & Scull International acquires “Gulf Technical Construction Company” (GTCC), a civil contracting company to complement its IWP operations
2007 Completed work on the district cooling system at Dubai Festival City, a major Dubai mall.
2007 Commenced works on:
  • Fairmont Palm Residence and Fairmont Palm Hotel (Palm Island, Dubai)
  • District cooling plant and network at Motor City (Dubai)
  • Laguna Hotel and Tower (Jumeirah Lake Towers, Dubai)
  • Rotana on the Park (Abu Dhabi)
  • Souq Residence FZCO, Golden Mile, Palm Jumeirah (Dubai)
  • Anantara Palm Jumeirah and Tiara Residence
  • Abu Dhabi National Exhibition- Exhibition Halls Phase II (Abu Dhabi)
  • 2008 Drake & Scull International offers 55% of its shares to the public and the IPO is 101 times oversubscribed.
    2008 Commenced works on:
  • Royal Amwaj Resort & Spa (Dubai)
  • Infinity Tower (Dubai)
  • Meydan Central Cooling Plant (Dubai)
  • Sahara Mall Expansion (Sharjah)
  • Abu Dhabi Rotana and Centro Rotana Hotels (Yas Island, Abu Dhabi)
  • Hadeed District Cooling Project (Saudi)
  • 2008 On November 16 2008, Drake & Scull International officially becomes a Public Joint Stock Company (PJSC)
    2008 GTCC opens an office in Abu Dhabi
    2009 On March 16 2009, Drake & Scull international becomes the 1st multi service contracting company to be listed on the Dubai Financial Market (DFM)

  • The Kingdom of Sheba development (MEP) on Palm Jumeirah, bringing the total value of DSI PJSC contracts on the Palm Jumeirah to over AED 1.4 billion
  • Its first contract in Thailand, the MEP contract for The River development, a luxury condominium building located on the Chaophraya River in Bangkok
  • Mangrove Place project on Al Reem Island (civil and mep works)

    Drake & Scull International PJSC expanded its existing Infrastructure, Water and Power (IWP) operation to encompass infrastructure solutions for the telecommunication sector
