Dohaland awards AED 182 million contract for District
Cooling Plants in Musheireb project
Drake & Scull Water and
Power L.L.C to design, build and service two plants in the Musheireb project

DOHALAND
today announced that they have awarded an AED182million design and build
contract for two district cooling plants in its flagship Musheireb project to
Drake & Scull Water and Power L.L.C (DSWP) – a subsidiary of Drake &
Scull International (DSI) PJSC.
The
contract scope of work includes detailed design and construction of district
cooling plants comprising the chiller plants, cooling towers, and includes all
equipment and services. The total capacity of the two proposed District Cooling
plants is 29,250 TR (Tonnage of Refrigeration).
Mr. Mohammad
Masoud Al Marri, Director-Projects, Dohaland said, “We are delighted to award
the design and build contract to Drake and Scull for the District Cooling
plants for the Musheireb project. This is another important milestone in the
construction of the Musheireb project which is progressing on schedule. The
vast experience of our partners, substantiated by the quality and delivery of
their previous work, was a major consideration in their selection to undertake
the project.”
The contract also
covers the design and construction of a chilled water
reticulation network including valves and valve chamber details, the design and
construction of complete Mechanical Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) building
services for the plants, the testing and commissioning of the Plants as well as
the operation and maintenance of the district cooling plants for a minimum
period of five years.

Dohaland had
recently confirmed that work on the project was proceeding on schedule and raft
concrete pouring for phase 1A of the project was currently under progress.
Phase 1A of Musheireb is due for completion in 2012 with the overall project
expected to be ready by 2016.

Construction work on DOHALAND’s signature project
Musheireb was initiated on January 13th, 2010, by His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin
Khalifa Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, and Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser
Al Missned, who revived an age-old Qatari tradition by leaving her royal
handprint on the cornerstone of the project, due to be completed by 2016.
